The romance is still a little… too sweet for me. That also coming back to bite her in the ass at the end of the novel is AMAZING and probably my favorite part of the entire book. The realization that her actions in different dimensions have consequences comes a bit late, and Marguerite still can’t quite accept it, but that’s still a great conflict to introduce to the story. Marguerite is still a good main character and narrative voice, if a little scattered, and she does grow a bit in this installment. Things do pick up quite a bit during the last half, though, and there are a few twists that are really well executed and introduce some amazing plot points for the final book. The plot is pretty solid aside from the first half of it feeling like a huge filler, with Marguerite running around after Paul and revisiting several dimensions. Thi is a nice read, but nothing mind blowing. It does take a little while for things to get moving, though, but not enough to erase the “this is a filler” feeling that echoes through the first half of the novel. There are many twists throughout the novel and the different dimensions, as well as a pretty impacting reveal that sets things up nicely for the final book. There is still quite a bit of romance to balance out the sci-fi elements and action, although the plot does slow down a bit with this installment.Ĭlaudia Gray’s writing is engrossing and the story itself is interesting, if a little boring. The world-building is still very unique and well developed, as are the characters and their alternate selves, and the steady pace works rather well with the tension that surrounds the main plot. Ten Thousand Skies Above You is a nice continuation of Marguerite’s story. “Ten thousand skies, and a million worlds, and it still wouldn’t be enough for me to share with you. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul.

She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions. Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents’ invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse-even hurting the people she loves.
